Boma Iluma grew up between Abuja, Nigeria and Atlanta, Georgia and harbors strong emotional, familial connections to both places, their communities, and their histories. Through acting in commercials (Cartoon Network; the NBA) and in the Atlanta theater scene, Boma began to cultivate his interest in filmmaking and harness his abilities as a storyteller. His directorial debut, the visual art piece NEGUS debuted in Los Angeles art circles in 2019. Boma went on to direct HEiRS—a diverse, Generation Z reimagining of Nike’s Air Jordan brand—which premiered in 2020 at New York Fashion Week and was later showcased at Jumpman, LA. His narrative short film COMFORT was acquired by Amazon Prime Video for distribution. Boma then directed a narrative short segment in Roman Coppola’s THE SEVEN FACES OF JANE. His work in branded content and commercials includes collaborations with Oakley, The New Yorker, Jeep, W Hotels, Nissan, Ford, and more. He is set to make his episodic debut on Showtime's THE CHI (season 5) in summer of 2022.
