A graduate of both Dartmouth College and the USC Film School, Alice Mathias joined the hit television show Portlandia as an intern in its first season and steadily climbed the ranks of the critic-beloved sketch comedy darling where she now acts as the show’s Executive Producer and Director. Nominated for an Emmy six times for her work on both Portlandia and Documentary Now!, Alice has written, produced, and directed a number of projects, often with longtime collaborator and creative partner Fred Armisen. She has directed commercials for the likes of Apple, Nike, Little Caesars, and Toyota, among others. Most recently, Alice produced the HBO show "Los Espookys," directed the Netflix hit sketch comedy show "I Think You Should Leave," and produced the second season of "Shrill" Alice frequently contributes to The New York Times.
